Hooray For Hollywood - And All Our Supporters

Put simply... THANK YOU!

Another successful night at the Batch raised a fabulous £3,471 for Breakthrough!

We love our annual Ball and this year was no exception. Surrounded by friends old and new, our supporters and guests helped us celebrate, wine, dine and dance, and all the while working towards a future free from the fear of breast cancer.

There were many great costumes on display, along with all the elegant ball gowns and smartly dressed men.

The lovely and talented pianist Andrea Monk provided the perfect accompaniment to the three course meal, until the marvellous Bravo Singing Waiters burst into song and soon had the guests on their feet!

After the meal, our varied auction lots received good support from the guests, so thanks again to all who donated the lots and everyone who bid on the night. All the auction winners received their own gold statuette!
With the auction done and dusted, the dance floor was soon full thanks to the fantastic Riverbrew who always put on a show for us. Guests not yet ready to boogie were able to try their luck in the casino and also have their photos taken by David and Dawn from Flash Pictures.

After the Riverbrew left us wanting more, DJ Chris took over and kept the party going until the lights dimmed.

As you can imagine, its difficult to list everyone who helped behind the scenes and made the ball happen, but all the support is hugely appreciated and really does make a difference, so THANK YOU once again!

Tickets are now available for our next Ball on Saturday 7th December 2013, theme and details to be announced soon but plans are underway, so please let us know if you would like to join us!

Here's a few photos from the night, mostly taken by David from Flash Pictures, but with a couple of guest pics thrown in:

Here are a few of the 'studio' pics that David from Flash Pictures took of our guests. Many more can be viewed here and details on how to order from here!

Trimwise 24 Hour Cycle Completed

Hard Work But Great Times!

Started:            Noon Saturday December 1st 2012
Finished:          Noon Sunday December 2nd 2012
Where:             Trimwise Gym, Bridgwater, Somerset

Huge respect!   Awesome effort from all involved.

For 24 hours, dozens of members from Bridgwater's Trimwise gym joined four teams from their Fit And Trim Club to keep the wheels of spin cycles spinning non-stop, all in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

We won't know the final total of money raised for a number of days but there's still time to get involved and help fund Breakthrough's world class research centres:
TRIMWISE BRIDGWATER JUST GIVING PAGE

It really was a great event with friends and supporters dropping in to join in the fun and keep spirits high. As well as having a range of Breakthrough literature on show, with Julies Legacy and TLC leaflets available, the TRIMWISE 2013 NAKED CALENDAR was also on sale - proving very popular indeed!

Sneak peek

The cycle challenge came about when the gym's weight loss group wanted to show and celebrate the health benefits of exercise and healthy eating, and a full day spinning seemed like a good idea at the time.

Each team had a spin bike that a member was cycling at all times, in various time slots, all under the watchful eyes of several instructors throughout the 24 hours. There were eight other bikes in use most of the time... apart from the two bikes that were broken overnight of course!

To complement the fundraising, the four teams sported Breakthrough awareness names:

Team 'TOUCH' was captained by Kate Henstridge
Team 'LOOK' was commanded by Melanie Bicknell
Team 'CHECK' was inspired by Laura Lee Parker
Team 'AWARE' was marshalled by Hayley Dhaliwal

Team Captains

Details of hours cycled and names of all who took part are not yet available but all of us at Breakthrough Breast Cancer Somerset Group would like to thank everyone who eased into a saddle and made this event possible. It is only with the help of people like yourselves up and down the country that we are able to work towards our goal - a future free from the fear of breast cancer.

Thank you all.

Here's a rather large amount of pics from various stages of the cycle challenge, along with a video of the FINAL COUNTDOWN - thanks for reading and enjoy!
