Guys and Dolls Ball 2010

The night has come and gone and we can now relax, this has been a hectic last few months organising our biggest and most successful ball to date. We are extremely proud to announce that we have raised £5,265 and just as important we manage to raise more awareness on Breast Cancer.

This has been a great effort from all the memebers of the Somerset Breakthrough Group. We have so many people to thank for helping us in so many ways so THANK YOU.

We have so many photos of the night that its impossible to add them all on, but we have selected a few pictures that sum the night up.

Ferngate Go Pink

Following a successful fundraising day for the Pakistan Floods appeal, the girls from Ferngate, a NorthernCare residential home, decided to hold a GO PINK cake sale for Breakthrough.

The young women and staff arranged for a stall in Portishead market to run a pink bake sale to raise funds and help increase awareness about breast cancer.

The bitter weather did not deter the local community from supporting the event, with a grand total of £205.18 raised.

Alongside the cake sale, there was also a raffle won by a local resident, with local businesses, including Waitrose and Costco, donating items for the event. Ferngate Manager, Penny Catton, said:
‘It was a great day and another fine example of the positive contribution young people in care can make to their community.’

Go Pink Apex Walk 2010

Over 70 people took park in the Balloon Walk at Highbridge's Apex park, raising over £80 for
Breakthrough in the process.

The event was organised by Southleigh Kindergartens which parents and staff all took part.

The day was not helped by the weather but all took part in great spirits.

The vision was to have every child holding a balloon to raise awareness from a Young age.

Sky Dive 2010

Well done to Holly, Alex, Toni, Iaine, Elaine and Ben for your recent sky dive.

All managed a tandem sky dive from 15,000ft.

As it stands the team has raised over £2000 but we estimate they could get near to £3000 at the end.

They all seemed to enjoy the day and most admitted to being a little nervous at the start.

Well done again to the brave guys and girls and congratulations on raising a massive amount of money!
